Wednesday evening I wanted to get a few more great shots of the Trumpeter Swans here on the farm. As I was walking up to the pond where the swans were that day I kept hearing something rustling in the tall grass beside me. I took another step and up flew about ten big turkeys. Scared me half to death. When they flew they were so loud.
After I got over the initial shock of the turkeys I went on to the pond. I could hear the Trumpeter Swans honking . They sounded really nervous. I knew I didn’t have much time to get photos of them because they were bobbing their heads up and down and honking. I know they didn’t see me but I figured it was the turkeys. They knew something was out there.
The swans formed a line and off they went. I didn’t have time to think. All I could do was aim the camera and start shooting. They flew by me like a tornado!
And up into the air they went. I was so disappointed but I knew they had heard the turkeys take off and the swans knew something was close to the pond. I will just have to try again. When you are taking photos of wild life anything can happen. You have to expect the unexpected and try again.
